Engineering, Procurement Services, Construction Supervision, 1984
Client: Gol-e-Gohar Iron Ore Company/National Iranian Steel Company (NISCO)
Parallel with developing steel making mills in Iran by using Direct Reduction technologies, mine exploration and developing activities being started in Gole Gohar which was an important potential reserve of iron ore in the country. Such activities were done by Granges Company the Swedish Mine technologist before revolution. While basic studies of mine, technological beneficiating tests plus site pilot plant runs etc. and also Basic Design development of beneficiation process were done and delivered by Granges, the other activities for proceeding towards plant realization were stopped and reactivated by NISCO after revolution. For This purpose and in absence of Swedish technologist, Namvaran was awarded to proceed with Detail Design of complex and engineering of its infra-structures plus giving technical procurement services to client for their purchasing and supply of plant equipment. Then, complex construction was executed by multiple stages, mainly section-wise and on separated civil/erection discipline basis, according to Namvaran detail design. The same concept as well followed for required infra structures and utilities of complex. Equipment for concentrator plant as a package was supplied from Voestalpine and grinding mills equipment were from Krupp Germany. The very special feature of comminution part of the plant is the configuration of dry SAG Mills in combination with wet Ball Mills which is unique in Iran. Upon successful operation of first phase of the plant, the expansion project was followed with Namvaran for increasing the production capacity from 2.5 MTPY to 5 MTPY. So, Namvaran provided the same services of Whole engineering, procurement technical services, supervision of construction and commissioning to reach to the target capacity. Later on, cooperation between parties was continued for giving technical services and operation supporting towards production enhancement, for a long period of 20 years.
